Vivo IPL 2018 CSK vs MI Match 1 Live Scorecard, Twitter Reacts, Highlights

The 2018 IPL has got off to a sensational start as the returning Chennai Super Kings defeated defending champions Mumbai Indians by one wicket in a thriller in the tournament opener at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

Put into bat by Chennai, Mumbai didn’t have a great start as they lost both their openers in the powerplay overs. Thanks to Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan’s partnership followed by some late blitz from Krunal Pandya, the mosts managed to post a respectable total of 165 in their 20 overs.

Chasing 166, the Chennai Super Kings were off to a decent start but lost wickets in a heap to Hardik Pandya and debutant Mayank Markande and were reduced for 84/6 with their main batsmen Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu etc. back in the hut. West Indian import Dwayne Bravo resurrected the innings as he took on the CSK bowlers.

He stitched some crucial partnerships with the tailenders and took his team closer to victory with a 30-ball 68 that had three fours and seven sixes. With seven runs needed off seven balls, Bravo threw his wicket away and Kedar Jadhav, who was retired hurt earlier in the match, came out to bat again and took the two-time champions home.

Bravo was adjudged Man of the Match for his fine performance with both bat and ball as he backed up his match-saving knock with figures of 0/25 in four overs, out of which 13 were conceded off the last three.
