Vivo IPL 2018 Delhi Daredevils Team Players List, Captain & Coach

IPL 2018 Delhi Daredevils Squad Analysis

With Gambhir being back to DD team after 6 years, DD suddenly seems like a perfect Delhi team. The team which had never won IPL trophy since the inception can hope to do so. This 36-year-old has led the KKR team to qualifiers, finals and won the trophy.

IPL 2018 Delhi Daredevils Complete Team Name

Abhishek Sharma, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult, Dan Christian, Gautam Gambhir, Sayan Ghosh, Gurkeerat Mann Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Sandeep Lamichhane, Manjot Kalra, Glen Maxwell, Amit Mishra, Mohammad Shami, Chris Morris, Colin Munro, Shahbaz Nadeem, Naman Ojha, Rishabh Pant, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada, Jason Roy, Vijay Shankar, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tewatia, Jayant Yadav.

IPL 2018 Delhi Daredevils Strengths

The biggest strengths of DD team is not hard hitting, but destructive bowling. Retaining Kagiso Rabada, Chris Morris alongside Mohammad Shami looks great. But they added a pinch of salt and pepper to batting line-up by buying NewZeland pace sensation Trent Boult (who is not used up to the mark by SRH).

But if you feel the pace is the only department which is looking strong, you might have mistaken. The spin department consisting of Jayant Yadav, Shahbaz Nadeem along with Amit Mishra has been completely dominant with their bowling.

IPL 2018 Delhi Daredevils Interesting Pick

DD always suffered from the opening stand soon after the departure of Sehwag and Gambhir. To make it more strong they have spotted Colin Munro as one opener. In search of another opener, they ended up choosing 18 years old, Prithvi Shaw who has been in excellent touch in the current ICC U19 world cup. That seems to be a juicy pick with reasonably less amount.

IPL 2018 Delhi Daredevils Weakness?

With all top order batsmen, it is very difficult to set the batting order. If Munro and Prithvi opening the innings, where Shreyas Iyer, Gautam Gambhir, Rishabh Pant will play? Then Gambhir and Prithvi should open the innings (left and right-hand combo) or will Gambhir go with dashing Munro or will he go one-down? If so, where other players will play? Where will Maxwell bat? The batting order has to be experimented for 2 to 3 matches to get the best combo.

Final Words

Overall DD is looking pretty decent leaving the batting lineup to captain’s call. It will be good to see Gambhir captaining the side after come back, instead of Gambhir playing under someone’s captaincy. Coach, Ricky Ponting’s decision will be key to choose a captain. Let’s hope that DD will win the trophy this time with local boys.
