Vivo IPL 2018 MI vs RCB 14th Match Review, Scorecard and Turning Point

Defending IPL champions Mumbai Indians opened their account in the 2018 IPL by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore by 46 runs at the Wankhede stadium earlier today. After choosing to bowl first, RCB were off to a great start as Indian pacer Umesh Yadav dismissed Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan off the first two balls of the match. Skipper Rohit Sharma walked in and joined opener Evin Lewis at the crease and the duo pulled things back for the hosts as they made sure that there were no further hiccups for the defending IPL champions.

IPL 2018 MI vs RCB 14th Match Review

Lewis reached his fifty off just 32 balls and when things looked set for a Lewis ton, he holed out to Quinton de Kock for 65. In spite of losing Krunal Pandya and Kieron Pollard soon after, skipper Rohit Sharma held the fort at one end and reached his fifty off 32 balls. He took on the RCB bowlers and went on to score 94 before he was dismissed by Corey Anderson off the penultimate over of the innings.

Hardik Pandya’s unbeaten 17 off 5 balls took MI to 213/6 after 20 overs. Chasing 214 runs to win, all eyes were on Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the right-hander, along with Quinton de Kock, got RCB off to a flying start by scoring 40 runs off the first four overs. Pacer Mitchell McClenaghan turned the game in one over by dismissing de Kock and the dangerous AB de Villiers in the same over. Since then, RCB were never in the hunt as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Virat Kohli was the only bright spot for RCB as he remained unbeaten on 92 off 62 balls while his team ended their innings at 167/8 in their 20 overs. Krunal Pandya was the pick of the MI bowler as he ended with figures of 3/28 while Jasprit Bumrah and Mitchell McClenaghan finished with two wickets apiece.
