South Africa’s Game Play Progress In ODI Unit Was Appreciated By Duminy

South Africa humbled in the Test Series in Sri Lanka won the ODI series and ended the tour with a loss on the T20. Despite being overwhelmed by the tests, they returned almost potentially in the ODI tournament to win the first three games of the series. However, the tour ended in an anti-climatic way, with ODI defeats of dead rubber and the exclusive T20I. And yet, JP Duminy thinks he had a successful tour.

In the skirmish of more than 20 years, South Africa was again strangled by spinners spell as it was hit by only 98, which was the lowest in T20I. South Africa pushed forward Sri Lanka before the hosts sealed a victory three times. “I do not think we leave Sri Lanka with negativity,” Duminy said after the defeat. “I think there are a lot of good points, I’ve certainly traveled a lot on the subcontinent tours when you left without knowing where the next wicket or the run will come from, but we’ve made huge progress and I’m excited about the cricket we’re trying to accept and I think we can improve more at the time.”

South Africa, however, will be pleased with the progress of Tabraiz Shamsi as a player during the tour. He was at the forefront of the attack from South Africa and sometimes surpassed Keshav Maharaj during the test. Shamsi defended a small total in the T20 and struck the first two senior batsmen Angelo Mathews and Thisara Perera (both for the duck), and allowed South Africa get into dominating platform. Duminy was certainly enthusiastic about what the left-arm spinner brings to the table.

He also added, “When the ball from spinners is getting some great moment on the pitch, some play extremely well, while some manage to play. But I appreciate the fact that we made our effort to pull out a score out of it.”
