Players Request BCB To Discontinue Players-By-Choice Transfer System

The Dhaka Premier League’s contentious players-by-choice transfer system is facing some issues. Reportedly, some cricketers have appealed for the discontinuation of the latest system. The reason behind this demand is said to be the non-support of their respective clubs.

Earlier, numerous cricketers of Brothers Union convened with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials. They claimed that they have not yet received their complete compensation for the services, which they offered in the previous local tournament, DPL. Numerous former national cricketers such as Junaed Siddique & Alok Kapali, and rookie pacer Syed Khaled Ahmed had met up with Nizamuddin Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer, BCB.

Players informed Chowdhury that they have not yet received about 25% of their compensation although the tournament has ended in April 2018. Domestic players requested the board that it should stop the contentious players-by-choice system for the future edition. They further informed the board that they are countering a number of monetary issues.

On a similar note, earlier, BCB announced that the agency is optimistic for Shakib Al Hasan’s availability for Asia Cup 2018. The latest Asia Cup is scheduled to be played in the United Arab Emirates starting September 15, 2018.

Reportedly, Hasan was part of the 31-man preliminary squad for the Asia Cup. However, he was injured lately this year. So, he has been planning for the surgery on his little finger. Minhajul Abedin, chief selector, Bangladesh, proclaimed that the board did not possess any information on Shakib’s surgical procedure.

Abedin further added that the organization expects the all-rounder will participate in the training camp for the six-nation tournament. He stated that as the organization does not possess any update of surgery yet, it has not considered about a replacement. He added that the agency will consider about the same once it has an update of his surgery.
