Pandya’s 5-Wicket Haul Closes England Shop On 161

In a noticeably redemptive session of the match, India made up for 2nd day’s dull bowling display by grabbing 10 wickets at Trent Bridge in an expanded session. Five of those batsmen went to Hardik Pandya’s list in a dramatic completion of India’s willful determination with the all-rounder. Pandya rampaged via middle-order of England to introduce his first five-wicket figure.

India’s comeback lay in the fascinating spell by Pandya as much as in their stumping, the hero being Rishabh Pant. Pant caught five wickets to become only the 4 th wicketkeeper of India with as many as 5 catches on his first appearance. KL Rahul was another game changer, taking 3 catches to assist dismiss Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes.

Root’s wicket out of the three involved the most controversy and drama. Pandya’s 5-wicket figure came in 29 deliveries, only a bit short by Harbhajan Singh’s 5-wicket spell in 27 deliveries at Kingston against Windies in 2006.

Speaking of the Indian Cricket Team, the team was spotted wearing black armbands on the 1st day of the third Test in opposition to England. This was done as a symbol of respect for lately deceased ex-India captain Ajit Wadekar as well as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The visitors, spearheaded by captain Virat Kohli, began the 3rd Test in Nottingham featuring black armbands to offer respect for the former captain as well as the former Prime Minister.

“The Indian Cricket Team is sporting black armbands as a sign of respect to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee (former India Prime Minister) and Shri Ajit Wadekar (former India captain), who passed away lately,” the BCCI claimed on the social media.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee took the leave last week at the age of 93. On the other hand, Ajit Wadekar, former India Test captain who headed the nation to their first win in 1971 in England, took leave at the age of 77.
