Pakistan Prime Minister Eager For Match Between India And Pakistan

Imran Khan, the new Prime Minister of Pakistan, is very, very eager on the recommencement of bilateral cricket between Pakistan and India. This is as per the new chairman of the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board), Ehsan Mani.

“It is still early to say anything. My aim is to make cricket in Asia sturdier again, as it was earlier. At this stage, I do not want to go into any detail. But clearly, cricket between India and Pakistan is significant to the realm of cricket. Hence, that is one thing we will have to mull over and deal with. Luckily, we have a Prime Minister who is very, very eager on this issue,” Mani claimed to the media in an interview this week.

Pakistan and India have not played any match since 2012–2013, when Pakistan visited India for a limited-overs short series. The Government of India has declined to offer permission for a bilateral tournament till Pakistan ceases cross-border activities. The next Asia Cup in September had to be moved out of India due to the participation of Pakistan in the series. The Asia Cup will now be hosted by the UAE.

Speaking of Cricket Pakistan, a few days ago Najam Sethi, the PCB chairman who has a history of clashes with Imran Khan (the former national captain and new Prime Minister), was swiftly replaced after his resignation from the job.

Pakistani cricket took pleasure of a golden period below Sethi’s management, shooting up the global rankings to turn out to be No. 1 team in T20 internationals and winning the ICC Champions Trophy.

But the new Prime Minister, whose party came into management last month in a national election, clashed with Sethi in 2013 during the earlier ballot. This was the time when Sethi was responsible of an interim provincial government.
