Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2018 Winner Prediction

The 2018 Asia Cup gets underway with five-time champions Sri Lanka taking on Bangladesh in the first encounter of the tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on September 15. Both the teams will look to get off to a winning start in the tournament as it will give them momentum going into their second Group game against Afghanistan.

This might be a cracker of a contest as Bangladesh have been playing some fantastic brand of cricket in ODIs of late and at the same time, Sri Lanka is trying their best to resurrect themselves as world beaters in the format. Bangladesh had the upper hand against Sri Lanka in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy but the Asia Cup is a completely different ball game as it will be played in the ODI format.

Even before the tournament started, Sri Lanka is forced to address a few injury issues as their star batsman and former captain Dinesh Chandimal has been ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury he sustained while playing in the country’s T20 competition. A day before the start of the tournament, all-rounder Asela Gunaratne was ruled out of the tournament due to a lower back injury. Adding to this, Akila Dananjaya is likely to miss the first two matches on account of the birth of his child. Bangladesh on the other hand, don’t have any injury concerns in their teams and have all the players available for selection.
