England Coach Bayliss Supports “Out Of Form” Cook Stating Cook Is Practicing Well

Trevor Bayliss, England coach, recently supported player Alastair Cook. He proclaimed that Cook is striking the ball well in practice. In the recent past, numerous questions were raised on Cook’s form as the player could not achieve any half-centuries in his last seven innings. Also, Cook had a series of dwindling scores such as 13, 0, 21, 29, and 17 in the five innings he played against India in the present Test series.

Bayliss proclaimed that there is no change in Cook’s demeanor. There wouldn’t be any difference between now and when he is scoring ample of runs. He still practices hard. He added that if someone sees Cook practicing, they will notice that he is really striking the ball pretty well.

Bayliss disagreed with the statement that Cook is out of form. He stated that presently, Cook is hitting the ball well. He is practicing hard and still plays an active role in his position in the team.

On a similar note, earlier, Bayliss hinted that England may have to make a hard decision over Jonny Bairstow’s prospect as Test wicketkeeper. Earlier, Bairstow was injured and had fractured a finger in a match at Trent Bridge. At present, there is an uncertainty about his presence in the fourth Test, starting next week. Bayliss added that if Bairstow passes a fitness test, he will possibly play as a specialist batsman only.

Bairstow’s fracture allowed Jos Buttler, England’s usual limited-overs keeper, to work as a wicketkeeper after a long period in Tests since 2015. Buttler consequently scored his maiden Test hundred.
