Ashraful Eyes BPL To For His National Return

Mohammad Ashraful, the Former Bangladesh skipper, is aiming for the next edition of the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League). The tournament is the nation’s only franchise-based T20 contest, which might help him to stand out for the national selection. Ashraful, who was advertized as the biggest happening in Bangladesh cricket, was under a 5-year ban from all types of cricket in the 2013 BPL after his involvement in spot-fixing and match-fixing. Having served his time of punishment, Ashraful is now rolling the dice to represent his nation once more.

“Playing in the BPL will have a lot of impact, because it is a big platform [to prove oneself],” Ashraful claimed to the media in an interview. “If you get an opportunity to perform well after playing there, it becomes simpler to make an entry in the national team,” he claimed further.

Speaking of BPL, the upcoming edition of the tournament will begin from January 5, 2018, claimed BPL executives to the media in an interview. The declaration was made after a conference between the franchises representatives and governing council members of the tournament at Mirpur.

“We need to organize the upcoming edition of the tournament from January 5, 2018, to February 8, 2018. According to our knowledge, the upcoming general election is anticipated to start in the last week of December. Hence, we have made a decision of the pipeline for our next edition of BPL,” claimed technical committee chairman of BPL, Jalal Younus, to the media in an interview.

“Prior to that, we need to finish the players draft in October 2018, although we are yet to confirm its date,” he further claimed.

Originally, the tournament was planned to be held in October 2018 but BCB altered the plan in order to offer sufficient security for BPL, and instead chose to host Zimbabwe for two Tests and three ODIs during that time.
