No Modification In The Asia Cup Schedule For India–Pakistan: BCCI

Notwithstanding preliminary reports hinting that the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) was discontented with crammed Asia Cup 2018 fixtures of India, the agenda will remain unaltered.

Two matches of India at the Asia Cup have been planned on uninterrupted days that comprise a highly-projected match on September 19 against Pakistan. After the agenda was declared last month, a statement asserted that the BCCI was dejected at the “senseless arrangement” as Indian team was to participate in a qualifier a day prior to meeting Pakistan.

Responding to the chaos, Virender Sehwag, the former opener, had proposed India to shun the match. Nevertheless, according to the Mumbai Mirror’s report, Rahul Johri, BCCI CEO, has verified that there will be no variation in the games for India. The Asia Cup begins from September 15 with a match between on Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India starts their campaign on September 18 against a qualifier prior to match scheduled next day against Pakistan.

UAE is hosting the 2018 edition and will witness the participation of 6 squads including Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and a qualifier. It was chance of BCCI to host the competition but owing to the political stresses between Pakistan and India, the location was altered.

The ECB (Emirates Cricket Board) will be organizing games at Abu Dhabi and Dubai under its administration and will be remunerated for its services. Johri said, “The accord was inked between the boards and ECB will be remunerated for the event conduct.”

On the other end, overwhelmed with the performance of India on the Trent Bridge Test’s opening day, Sanjay Bangar, the batting coach, eulogized the batsmen adapting well to the surface and bringing about technical variations in their strategy. India experienced their series’ finest day on August 18, where openers KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan offered the team a great start that was maintained by Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli. India finished the day at 307/6, their maximum total of the series.
