BCB Seeking To Send Senior-Team Cricketers To County Cricket

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is seeking to send some of the nation’s top cricketers to county cricket in order to sharpen their skills. To make development in this regard, the panel has asked Steve Rhodes (recently appointed head coach) to try and make some preparations so that some of his charges have the chance to play in the county.

Being a familiar name in the English domestic cricket owing to his participation both as a coach and player, Rhodes has guaranteed that he will try his best to make a move regarding the same.

“I have asked Rhodes to make some arrangements for this when we had a discussion. He claimed that he will try his best. We will meet again once the training camp begins next week,” claimed Minhajul Abedin, chief selector, to the media in an interview.

“In the off-season, the team has nothing to do. They can go and play in England in the meantime. There are many leagues and a club cricket in England.”

Speaking of BCB, earlier in July, Bangladesh hired Neil McKenzie (former South African batsman) as their new batting consultant to assist shape up their mournful batting lineup.

Bangladesh was unsuccessful to make 200 runs in any of previous 6 Test innings. The team during a series against the West Indies was bowled out for 43 in an innings.

BCB in an interview claimed that McKenzie, who played two T20 internationals, 64 one-day internationals, 58 Tests for South Africa, will work with the team Bangladesh until the World Cup 2019 in Wales and England.

He joined the team on 24 July, 2018, in Guyana during the 3-match ODI series in opposition to West Indies, the BCB claimed at that time. McKenzie also acted as batting consultant for South Africa twice after his retirement in 2009.
