Vengsarkar Supports Rishabh Pant For 3rd Test Match
The former India selector and batsman, Dilip Vengsarkar, has supported Rishabh Pant to make his first appearance in realm of Test in the third match at Trent Bridge against England.
India is behind by 2-0 in the 5-match series. While Virat Kohli, the Indian captain, bolstered the team’s batting in the first match, which was a closely fight, they experienced double collapses at Lord’s to undergo a defeat by an innings.
With the top order of the Indian team out of sorts and out of form against the fast ball, and Kohli grappling with an injury on the back, there are chances to change the line-up before the Nottingham Test beginning this week.
Vengsarkar in his time had supposedly fought to provide Kohli his early break in the Test. In spite of this, he called for the addition of Pant, who as per Vengsarkar is a volatile wicket-keeper and batsman.
“Rishabh Pant must be in the team,” he claimed to the media in an interview. “Besides Kohli, nobody has proved that they can make runs here.”
Speaking of Indian Cricket Team, the team this week paid its respects to Ajit Wadekar, former India captain, who passed away at the age of 77 after suffering from an extended illness. The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) took to social media to upload a pic of the Indian team maintaining a 2-minute silence to condole the death of the former captain. Wadekar has two sons, wife Rekha, and a daughter behind him. Wadekar spearheaded India to their 1st overseas victory in West Indies and England in the early 70s. Beside the Indian team, BCCI this week paid tribute by uploading a pic of Wadekar on their official account on social media. You too can check it on Tweeter and offer your condolences.
