Shane Warne, Australia’s ex-captain, earlier asserted that he believes the nation badly needs David Warner and Steve Smith back in the setup. He proclaimed that the two important players are serving a year of prohibition for their connection in the ball-tampering conflict on the South Africa tour previously this year. He believes that both the players will be back even stronger after completing their punishment period.
Australia was going through a low level as the two players were given a send-off. While they lost the Test series against South Africa 1–3, they were punched 0–5 by England in an ODI series. Also, they had to lose from Pakistan in the T20I tri-series’ final held in Zimbabwe. Both Warner and Smith have been participating in T20 leagues to be in touch with the game.
Warne is known as a second highest wicket-taker in Tests (708). He stated in the interview with Fox Sports News that he believes both the players will be coming back soon. He further stated that the team needs them as well as they is desperate to welcome them. Warne proclaimed that the Australian team is lacking in batting. So, the team needs both the players desperately back.
On a similar note, Shane Warne recently proclaimed that Australia’s captain and vice-captain posts are still open in spite of the support of Tim Paine, present skipper. Paine was appointed as a provisional Test captain following the Cape Town ball-tampering disgrace previous to being selected as a permanent skipper.
Earlier, Steve Smith was suspended for about 12 Months from the position of permanent skipper and was disqualified to hold the position of captain in Australian cricket team for about 2 Years. Paine is all set to go ahead and lead the team Australia in the forthcoming two-Test series against Pakistan in the UAE.
