James Anderson has turned out to be the first bowler in 38 Years from England and only the 7th bowler of the country to cross the mark of 900 points in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings. This comes to post an outstanding performance in the second match at Lord’s against India. England won the match by 159 runs and an innings to take a lead of 2-0 in the 5-match series.
The excellent match figures (9/43) by Anderson have allowed him to make 903 points and join a limited group involving George Lohmann (931), Sydney Barnes (932), Ian Botham (911), Tony Lock (912), Alec Bedser (903), and Derek Underwood (907). All of these players crossed more than 900 points during their time.
Anderson is the all-time top wicket-taker of England in Tests with 553 wickets. He is the only one to grab 100 Test wickets at Lord’s. He is the first bowler of the country to breach the desirable mark since Botham in August 1980 crossed 900 points. Anderson now stands in front of second-placed Kagiso Rabada (the South Africa fast bowler) by 21 points in the list of bowlers.
Speaking of England Cricket Team, Ben Stokes will make a thrilling entry to the England Test team this week. However, he can still face an extended ban after a lawsuit case that comprised accusations of a street fight and heavy drinking that left two people unconscious.
The media understands that Stokes (who is supposed to have earned £140,000 in legal fines) can still undergo a disciplinary penalty over footage of him mocking the disabled son of Katie Price (television personality). Stokes apologized earlier but a verdict on whether it will be the fraction of the CDC (Cricket Discipline Commission) is still to be finalized. It is supposed that senior officials at the ECB are ashamed by Stokes’s behavior.
